What led you to work in this field?

I was attending Graduate school and met some brokers. I began working at their company doing marketing and communications. I have since done D&O and E&O claims and broking, underwriting, and now sales and distribution. I have spent the better part of the last 12 years working in business development and really enjoy this side of the business! Working directly with underwriters and brokers allows me to use both my broker and underwriting backgrounds.

What are your hobbies?

I am an active EMT

I traveled to Russia, Latvia, and Lithuania in 1993 as part of a professional acting and dancing group. I was 13!

What led you to work in this field?

I was in banking at the time and wanted to get into a different industry. A friend of mine said they were looking for underwriters. He gave me his card and with a contact person's name. The rest is history!

What is the first job you ever had?

Babysitting! My first "adulting " job was in the banking industry I was a credit loan analyst.

What led you to work in this field?

After college I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, so I googled marketing/sales jobs within a 2-mile radius of my house, American Safety Insurance was the first company to respond to my resume. Happy they did!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Own your mistakes, the second you try to pass blame, people will see right through you. Then learn from them.

What led you to work in this field?

I began my career in Commercial Property and Casualty insurance and enjoy providing my clients the highest level of risk protection and account servicing. Insurance gives you the opportunity to build strong personal relationships with agents and brokers.

Played both football and lacrosse in college

What is the first job you ever had?

I was a grocery cart retriever for a supermarket chain located at a local mall. Mighty hot on the summer asphalt. After two months, I realized that caddying paid better and was more enjoyable.

What led you to work in this field?

I began my career as a traditional environmental consultant, overseeing drilling and remediating contaminated sites. I was drawn to the balance of hands-on work and managing the business side of environmental science. In my late 20s, I was introduced to the field of environmental insurance, and the rest is history!

Fun fact about yourself

Born in Belgium and have 26 first cousins (only one cousin lives in the U.S.!)

What is the first job you ever had?

Working for a one-man environmental consulting firm. I started a week after graduating college and worked there for a year. Tasks ranged from overseeing soil hauling, developing spill prevention plans and designing the company's logo.
